  2. Then add cashewnuts and fry little (it shd not become dark brown)
  3. Once Cashewnuts gets slightly fried, add wheat flour…Fry till you get the flavour of the flour
  4. Then add the cooked and mashed Moong…Stir nicely
  5. Once you stir immediately add sugar & cardamom powder
  6. Keep on stirring..Within 10 mts, the moong will rotate like a ball and you can see ghee getting separated
  7. When you stir, you can see the mixture rotating nicely without sticking to the kadai…That is the time to remove from kadai
  8. Transfer to a bowl and your Halwa is ready to eat

Ashoka Halwa / Thiruvaiyaru Style Asoka Halwa can be make it in your kitchen with only a few ingredients and a little know-how. Though the recipe is quite simple. Asoka Halwa is very famous in my home town(Thanjavur). This is my family fav halwa,Amma makes this halwa almost for all occasions. This halwa can be prepared using the moong dhal(pasiparupu).
